London Galleries Trip

On the 18th of October I went on a trip to London with my University course to visit The Photographers Gallery and also The National Portrait Gallery.

First we went to The Photographers Gallery to look at some very inspirational work from the Feminist Avant-Garde Of the 1970’s which was a large exhibition featuring work such as Photographs, collages and video from over 48 artists including Cindy Sherman. The work that is shown reflects a time throughout the 1970’s where many gender equality and civil rights protest movements were taking place. Another exhibition here that kept mine and many other students attention for a long time was the work on Joanne by Simon Fujiwara. It was a film that showed issues around the representations of women in today’s society. I found the main quote within this work very inspirational:

“I feel like I’m cheating if I say: I am a model, I am a teacher, I am a lover, I am an artist, I am a chameleon, I am a fighter… I am a person… I am a female.”
– Joanne

In the afternoon after we had a bite to eat we headed over to The National Portrait Gallery to view William Eggleston’s exhibition. This exhibition features over 100 of Eggleston’s images, I found the colours in his work were absolutely stunning and this really showed within the gallery setting.

Jack and Natalie

On bank holiday weekend I had the privilege of capturing my cousin Jack’s marriage to Natalie. The pair had a wonderful outdoor festival themed wedding, after the two had done the official marriage earlier in the week, a close relative of their’s conducted their own personal ceremony with beautiful vows that didn’t keep a dry eye in the house (or field?)! Instead of a traditional cake the couple held a “Great British Cake Off” in which if they wished, the guests could bring their own cake for Jack and Nat to choose a winner. To finish off the wonderful day they had a number of live sets performed by not only groom Jack’s band but also his dad’s band. Overall it was a lovely day and here are just a few photos to sum it up:

Jack & Jade

Jack & jade celebrated their wedding this July with a stunning outdoor ceremony at Saddleworth Hotel, with a vintage woodland theme really setting the perfect scene for them to tie the knot!

Jade had secretly planned a ceremony surprise for Jack, when the best man pretended that he had lost the rings when presenting an empty ring box, jade had arranged a bird of prey to deliver the rings down the isle. However with weddings not everything goes to plan; when the bird landed on top of the gazebo rather than in the best mans hand as practised! The bird eventually made its way down after lots of laughs.

Here’s a look at their wonderful day:
